Examining the Realation Between Sociotropic and Autonomic and Problem Solving Abilities of Nursing Students

Popis: gonener, huriye demet/0000-0001-6062-4331; WOS: 000312158300008 Objective: The objectives of this study is to examine the relation between sociotropic and autonomic personality with problem solving abilities of nursing students Materials and Methods: This study which is a descriptive cross-sectional type was applied with 283 students studying in the first and fourth classes in nursing schools of Sinop, Samsun and Ordu. As data collection toolstudent description form guided with literature regarding the topic, sociotropy- otonomy scale developed by Beck et al.(1997) and Heppner and Peterson's problem solving inventory (1982) were implemented. Result: The mean score was calculated as 68.14 +/- 14.34 for sociotrophy and 72.72 +/- 12.99 for autonomy of the students. The mean score value obtained from all participants is 95.33 +/- 16.64. It was demonstrated that the female students showed sociotropic (68.86 +/- 14.56) and autonomic personality (73.52 +/- 12.71) features more than the males and problem solving abilities were stated to be better than the males. The relation between sociotrophy and autonomy mean scores was found out insignificant regarding the classes of the students.
