Popis: Background: Toxoplasma gondii possesses proteins that can modulate host immune responses. TgMIF is a homologue of mammalian macrophage migration inhibitory factor.\ud \ud Results: TgMIF possesses tautomerase but not oxidoreductase activity. It can stimulate ERK MAPK and IL-8 production.\ud \ud Conclusion: TgMIF is capable of modulating host molecules.\ud \ud Significance: The study identifies immunomodulatory activity of TgMIF consistent with a role for sustaining parasite survival.
