Popis:	This meta-analysis of 34 randomized controlled trials reporting on 2723 participants has shown that perioperative administration of either probiotics or synbiotics was well tolerated and significantly reduced the risk of infectious complications following elective abdominal surgery. However, there were no differences in non-infectious complications or mortality between the intervention and control groups.
