Popis: | Devices able to interact with biological system without modifying their behavior are of extreme importance in biophysical and sensing applications. Here we report the realization of sensors based on PEDOT:PSS, a biocompatible polymer. In particular we show the possibility to use this material for biophysical applications as standard electrochemical electrodes or in applications where the semiconducting properties of this material where used as in electrochemical transistor for the detection of drugs. In the first case we realized a microfluidic apparatus designed for the realization of bilayer membrane and the PEDOT:PSS was used as electrode to detect the pores formation on membrane when particular bacterial toxin was used. This methodology could be applied to examine different membrane proteins (ion channels, receptors, antimicrobial peptides, toxins) for the purpose of biosensing, drug screening and nanopore technologies. In the second one PEDOT:PSS was used for the detection of drugs in the more conventional electrochemical transistor configuration. Here we show the possibility to detect in nM concentration some drugs via the detection of analytes (i.e. H2O2) produced by reaction of drug with some molecules. |
