Popis: | In recent decades, soil science exhibit a very noticeable progress. The time trend of soil science research evolved exponentially, many complex analytical techniques are now available at a rather low cost, the analytical details provided by many techniques has reached unimaginable levels even comparing with a decade ago. Moreover the positive developments in technology and in science was accompanied by the ability to face society issues related to protecting the environment. Despite all these issues, apparently positive, there is an obvious difficulty in the fully integration of soil science in the educational system, in the cultural system and in policies on the environment and over development. An obvious example of this difficulty underlying the very problematic implementation of a European Directive from the Soil Thematic Strategy. This round table aims to develop critical thinking and discussion, for use by European soil scientists, on whether, how and where soil science meets the needs of our society. For this task, we want to produce a roundtable made by outstanding soil scientists interacting with journalists, policy makers, economists over the needs of the European society and the responses provided by soil science. |
