Risk of chronification among non- specific low back pain patients at Tertiary hospital

Popis: Objective: The objective of this study was to determine the risk of chronification among Non-specific Low Back Pain participants at Tertiary hospital Design: Descriptive cross-sectional study convenient sampling Setting; Out-patient Physiotherapy clinic at Nakuru level V hospital Main outcome measure:Orebro musculoskeletal pain questionnaire was used to screen for risk of chronification. Subjects: 70 participants with Nonspecific Low Back Pain. Methods; Data regarding risk of chronification was obtained using Orebro Musculoskeletal questionnaire. It was then analyzed using the statistical package for the social sciences (SPSS) version 26.0 for descriptive and inferential statistics significant differences was declared at P ≤0.05. Results; 45.7 % of the participants were categorized as low risk for chronicity, with 37.1% as moderate risk while 17.2% were at high risk. There was significant difference among smokers (P=0.036). Absenteeism was significant correlated with pain duration Pain in the last week recorded a positive and significant correlation with anxiety depression persistence risk of developing pain. Conclusion: Screening could be the first step towards preventing back related disability and burden associated with chronification of NSLBP.
