Popis: Tinea capitis superficialis is a common disease among urban Black children attending schools and creches in Soweto, and is caused mainly by T. violaceum and endothrix anthropophilic fungus. Dissemination of this infection may be the result of human contact in overcrowded schools and creches rather than of poor hygiene and/or malnutrition. Combined treatment using systemically-administered griseofulvin and topical application of c1otrimazole seems to be highly effective.
