Popis: Data mining is an approach to detecting meaningful new correlations, patterns and trends by applying pattern recognition techniques as well as statistical and mathematical methods to large datasets. Data mining methodology has proven to provide invaluable intrinsic information from datasets in a number of application areas. In this paper we argue that the research in business and management can also benefit from the introduction of data mining techniques. For this purpose selected data mining technique is used to analyze the maturity state of Business Process Orientation (BPO) of companies in Central and Eastern Europe. In order to determine the expansion of process oriented practices in companies a survey was conducted in 2008. Data was used for building a data mining model that revealed knowledge about conditions of business process organization and management for transition between different stages of the BPO Maturity Model. These findings present invaluable guidelines for any business that strives to achieve more efficient business processes.
