Popis: Knowledge, as the most productive factor of production and international competition, logically represents an area of utmost interest for any tourist destination, inasmuch as its innovation and implementation generate strategic goals and achieve business excellence. However, at every destination there always is the open issue of its development, linked to preservation of the natural environment, its landscape, active vacationing, traffic & transportation, and then there's the impact of the tourism offer on the surroundings and regional economy. Today, these and many other open matters confront every tourist destination with numerous changes, challenges, new tourism trends, as well as with the demands and the knowledge of the enlightened contemporary tourist. In order to satisfy tourism demands as quickly and qualitatively as possible, entrepreneurs are becoming ever more aware of the need for a new system of knowledge management at the tourist destination. This paper attempts to find answers to these problems ; What is the role of knowledge at a tourist destination? What are the implications of an economy based on knowledge, and of management functions in general? How is knowledge created and innovated? How is knowledge organized, transmitted and distributed?
