Popis: Croatia is not a large European country, but its countryside varies from plains in the north, the Dinarides in the central part, to the Adriatic coast, which, together with the Adriatic makes its southern border. Closeness of the Alps in the North and the dynamic changes in its relief make the air flow very complex. Wind causes internal forces in structures as well as vibrations (especially noticeable for cable stayed and suspension bridges), which must be taken in static and dynamic analysis of a structure. On the other hand, wind has an impact on traffic conditions on a carriageway (together with other aspects like asphalt conditions – wet, dry, frosted, etc.). Since Croatia is known for its large, mostly arch bridges some experiences with bora and its impacts will be presented.
