Due to great interest in mimicking the active site of metalloproteins such as copper enzymes, a tremendous contribution to the development of new ideas and trends in coordination chemistry was done. In persuit of some of the ideas we synthesized copper(II) nitrate complexes with imidazole and γ-picoline as additional nitrogen ligands. The compounds were characterized by means of chemical analysis and IR-spectrometry, while the thermal stability was monitored by TG/DTA methods. The molecular and crystal structure of the imidazole complex was determined from the data of X-ray diffraction on single crystal sample. The molecular structure analysis revealed [4+2] coordination of the Cu(II) center, while the 2D supramolecular architecture is realized through the N—H···O hydrogen bonding network that is formed by fused R22(16) and R23(18) rings. |
