This impressive format textbook, consists of 342 pages divided into four main parts plus introduction and editor’s biography, author and subject index at the end. The four main parts consists of eleven essays, most of which were presented at the Session on: “A New Regional Geography of Europe? The Labour Market Impact of the EU Enlargement” of the XXII Annual Conference of the Italian Association of Labour Economists (AIEL), held at the University of Naples, Parthenope, in September 2007. The session aimed to stimulate the debate on the continuity/fracture of regional patterns of development and employment in old and new European Union (EU) regions. The editors of the book asked themselves, whether, and how different, the causes of emergence and the evolution of regional imbalances in the new EU members of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) are compared to those in the old EU members. |
