Popis: Assertivity implicits ability to represent opinions, stands, rights and emotions. Assertive behavior refers to active communication wich persistantly insists on consideration and acceptance of ones opinions based on arguments. To be assertive is opposite of being agressive, violent or rude, it is also opposite to passive behavior in wich we supress own needs and emotions. Generally, assertivity is group of skills that are acquired by learning and practice and are benefitial in building self esteem and self awareness. Frequently, almost on daily basis, people go over feelings of dissatisfaction, humiliation, anger and frustration without solving the problem that caused these feelings. To many people it is a problem to say No and that is leading into unwanted situations. Passive behavior allows us to avoid confrontation and gives satisfaction to others but not to ourselves. Agressive reactions worsen the communication with others, especially in situations where people feel laughet at, ignored, critcised and rejected. Agressivness is in opposition to assertivity in a way that agressivity shows no respect to others in standing up for one self. Passive and agressive reactions are most common of reactions but they are not helpful in solving the cause or more succesfull relations with envorovment. Assertive behavior does not bring victory or defeat in conflict situation but it contributes to solution based on mutual respect and argumented facts. It is not panacea for all the problems that occur in communication, but it is proved that assertive behavior helps in confrontation with anxieties and stresses in an calm and succesfull way, and it also helps people to feel better as an individual and as part of the envirovment.
