At that time, about 20 m2 of the surface was covered on 350 m2 of affected zone. The algae was located on sandy bottom between depths of 2.5 and 8 m. The colony was manually extracted from October 5 - 14. Approximately 130 hours of diving time in total was needed for the process. Following eradication, there were a number of follow-up investigations of both the eradicated area, as well as the surrounding area (± ; 1 miles), and no algae was found. The last follow-up investigation of this region was in January 1998, done by our team, and no algae was found at that time.
