The significant increase in negative anthropogenic impacts, mainly due to the increasing number of motor vehicles during the summer season in Istria, is mainly reflected in the content of soil pollutants such as copper (Cu), cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb) and zinc (Zn), which can potentially negatively affect the entire food chain, including human health. In Istria, the public institution "Kamenjak" is the owner of protected area with very important natural and public ecosystem functions. Considering the extraordinary importance of the landscape as a protected area for the daily life of people, flora and fauna, the aim of this study was to determine the presence of these heavy metals and potentially toxic elements in the soil. The study was conducted at 5 locations in the period from 2018 to 2021. The analysis was performed on 242 soil samples, from 5 locations in 4 years. The concentration of 4 metals (Zn, Cu, Pb, Cd) was measured at 2 depths (0-5 cm, 5-10 cm). It has been shown that the soil in certain locations of PI Kamenjak has elevated concentrations of heavy metals. |
