Today's tourism industry represents a complex system of interconnected suppliers and services on one side and various demands, wishes, and needs of tourists on the other. In order to find what each tourist wants, and to fulfill all these needs at a precise moment, but also to sell all products at the right time, it is essential to have an information and communication network that successfully connects both sides of the tourism market. However, it is no longer sufficient to have a stable tourism market. Modern hotel management needs to follow world trends and rules, be willing to meet all the challenges and demands that appear on a global scale, be ready for prompt changes, adjustments, and permanent investments (either in products and services, infrastructure or in the tourism staff). For a hotel system to be integrated in the global market, there must be an informational and communicational system that will successfully link all elements, absorb all data, filter out useful information and deliver them to hotel management at the right time. Today's businesses are based on such networks where information is the key to success. Since the hotel industry is the most important basis for the growth and development of tourism, (due to the complexity and volume of business) the word hospitality has been replaced with a new term: hotel industry. In the Republic of Croatia, tourism has the strongest impact on the entire economy, and the share of tourism in the GDP is more than 18.1%. Therefore, it is very important to monitor, harmonize, and implement contemporary industry standards, which can be measured by the success of a business. In order to achieve this, it is important to keep track of where, how much, and when to invest. In order to achieve a return on investment, hotel management must be in the process of being up to date with all changes in the tourism market. Contemporary trends in globalization, along with the development of a contemporary hotel industry, influence the creation of a modern global tourist scene of a global hotel corporation. With a complex and globalized top management, the hotel corporation ensures that all plans are equally and successfully implemented in all hotels that are part of the chain, anywhere in the world. The most important indicator in this information and communication system is the quality of business communication- especially among the hotel staff. The purpose of this paper is to point out the quality of the current level of business communication in the hotel system, without which the transfer of information would have no value. The aim of this research is to evaluate the influence of informational and communicational trends on the development and quality of business communication between hotel workers. By analyzing the status of business communication, the research will show how the information-communication tools are represented and what the influence is on the interaction between all involved in the organization. |
