Popis: This work describes the embryonic and larval development of garfish Belone belone and methods used for incubation of fertilized eggs. Eggs were fertiled with the dry fertilization method and incubated into the tank equipped with aeration and constant flow. Salinity aand content of disolved oxygen were constant while the temperature varied between 19.4 and 22.30C. Eggs were spherical, measuring 3071.9± ; ; 75.73 µ ; ; m in diameter. Yolk-sac is homogeneous and does not contain oil globules. Yolk-sac was 2931.2± ; ; 53.2 µ ; ; m in diameter for fertilized eggs. First larvae hatched 329 h 47 min after fertilizaon. Newly hatched larvae has functional jaws, operculum and pectoral fins, respectively is capable for active feeding. Yolk-sac was absorbed 17 – 48 hours after hatching and immediately thereafter the larvae catches air bubble in purpose of forming swimming bladder. The total length of newly hatched larvae was 9.78 mm.
