Landslide risk management for the purpose of civil protection in the City of Zagreb, Croatia

Popis: The City of Zagreb is capitol of Croatia placed in Europe with the total area of 640 km2 which includes the urban area (Zagreb City) and 69 settlements. Although measures have been taken in the City of Zagreb to promote sustainable and safe land use, the lack of recognition of geohazard prone terrain still exists. This paper addresses crises situations caused by activation of extreme huge number of landslides during the period from December 2012 to April 2013. The historical and current performance of landslide risk management in Zagreb demonstrates that it is necessary to establish system of analysis of landslide hazard, vulnerability of elements at risk and landslide risk as a base for crisis management. In this paper, new innovative technologies were presented to illustrate possibilities which enable gathering of information about spatial and temporal landslide risks, that are important for planning of emergency preparedness.
