Determining the level of travel demand in cities using activity-based approaches becomes an interesting space for broader number of researchers. The purpose and objectives of sustainable transport policies are to reduce negative impacts of traffic, particularly private cars by changing the modal distribution in favour of non-motorized and public transport. The key step in creating sustainable, efficient and safe mobility of people in cities is to detect appropriate goals, measures and solutions defined by transport policies. An activity-based model is an approach that can better detect the real behaviour of travellers from other models and is therefore more appropriate to create a proper transport policy. The main purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the benefits of implementing an activity-based model approach in transport policies. The paper will consist of an overview of existing scientific papers on this topic, the scope of science in the field of activity-based models in transport policy will be summed up and, based on this, a discussion and a conclusion will be made with the proposal of the direction of future research. |
