| Popis: | Ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP) is defined as pneumonia in patients on mechanical ventilation. Materials and methods: Clinical diagnosis of VAP was established by CPIS, and the analysis of microbiological cultures of bronchoaspirate samples. Results: 1142 patients were admitted during 2005 in our ICU. 51 patients were diagnosed with VAP, 14 (27%) with early onset VAP, and 37 (73%) with late onset VAP. |
