Popis: It is a fact that engineering students usually have additional interests in non-engineering fields of study. By using the information of their current interests it is possible to create a natural introduction into a new field of study, e.g. acoustics. Acoustics, as an interdisciplinary field, can only profit from new and fresh minds. At the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing at the University of Zagreb an elective course is offered to students who want to learn the basics of mixing and recording. The course is intended for undergraduate students as well as graduate students. It includes an interactive way of learning that makes it easier for students to familiarize themselves with mixing software with a goal of getting them interested in exploring the functionalities of microphones, speakers, room acoustics, and audio systems in general. This paper gives an overview of an already established course and proposes topics, methods and goals that would be appropriate and recommended for a thirteen week course.
