Analisys of the use of EU funds in the Virovitica– podravina county

Popis: The primary goal of this paper is to explain the importance of the role of EU funds in the development of entrepreneurship and the economy, and to highlight examples in the Virovitica- Podravina County. One of the fundamental factors influencing the development of the economy is entrepreneurship. The paper describes the impact of entrepreneurship on economic growth and development, but also lists the factors of economic development and the types of economic systems that depend on the structure of each country. For this reason, the importance of youth entrepreneurship was emphasized, with reference to its obstacles, and especially the lack of entrepreneurial education. In order to present the purpose and effect of EU funds as faithfully as possible, the history of financing the Republic of Croatia from EU funds is presented chronologically. Presenting the project application procedure, the financing of small and medium enterprises is described, as well as the financing of local and regional self- government. The use of EU funds and their impact on the development of the county is described on a specific example of Virovitica- Podravina County. The role of the county development agency in the application procedures and the impact of funded and implemented projects on entrepreneurship and the economy were emphasized. In addition, one of the most important projects was the Incubator Network project, which made Virovitica-Podravina County competitive with other counties in the Republic of Croatia. In order to see as credibly as possible the efficiency in the use of EU funds, a comparison was made between the two counties that have many similarities. This paper contributes to the understanding of the importance of using European Union funds, the possibilities of their use and their impact on the whole economy.
