The paper discusses the episode with heavy snowfall in Central Croatia. In the period from 13 to 15 January 2013 at the Zagreb-Maksimir station fell 67 cm of snow, the highest measured amount since the measurements began. Preliminary analysis of the synoptic situation indicates the existence of favorable conditions for the development of convective processes. The jet stream, which shifted over the central Croatia enabled the fast transfer of moist air from the Mediterranean, while during the most extreme precipitation the area of convergence of surface wind over Central Croatia supported the convection and such an extreme process. |
