Discussions about gender differences and the transformation of gender relations, especially in the business, are current and ubiquitous. There are many surveys on the status of women in the modern society and the results showed discrimination. This paper presents a scientific study of attitudes of respondents on the status of women in the business in the Republic of Croatia, and has the goal to determine opportunities for work and advancement and existence of gender discrimination among employees. The survey was conducted through a digital questionnaire designed for this research purposes. The questionnaire consists of 12 statements about attitudes and experience of respondents. The study involved 463 respondents of both genders and was conducted during January 2019. Two hypotheses were stated. The first one says that gender discrimination is still present in the Croatian business environment and the second one that male and female respondents in Croatia do not share the same attitude towards the status of women in business. Mann Whitney U test was used for verfiying the correlation between the respondents attitude and showed statistically significant difference in 5 statements. On the basis of the results obtained both hypotheses were confirmed. |
