A lack of safety drinking water has become a global problem demanding application of sophisticated water treatment methods. Membrane filtration is the leading water treatment technology due to a high separation effectiveness and environmental acceptability. Reverse osmosis and nanofiltration are the most often used techniques for drinking water purification, which are based on ion/molecule separation and presents up-to-date water treatments, which makes them primary between water treatment technologies. This paper presents the effect of nanofiltration on drinking water quality. Effectiveness of the treatment was determined due to transmembrane pressure and initial/final values of drinking water quality parameters. Experimental results showed that the increase of transmembrane pressure reduces membrane retention. Despite reduction of the membrane separation factor owing to increase of transmembrane pressure, nanofiltration shown a high effectiveness during drinking water treatment. |
