The aim of this research was to investigate the cultural elements of the target language culture and other cultures incorporated in the two series of the selected English language coursebooks. The research goal was twofold. It aimed to explore (1) the presence of the cultural elements of the target language culture and other cultures and (2) the change in consecutive editions of the coursebooks. The two coursebook series, containing eight coursebooks in total, were submitted to the qualitative analysis. The results suggest that there are elements of both the target language culture as well as many other cultures, but the L1 (Croatian) culture was not incorporated in the investigated series. Regarding the second research question, the research established a positive shift in the presentation of the cultural elements in consecutive editions of the coursebooks. |
