The paper presents Croatian animal stories for children in the chronological way, throughout the history of Croatian children’s literature. Whenever possible, Croatian stories and authors are compared with the ones from other national literatures, for example with stories written by Hans Christian Andersen, Beatrix Potter, Rudyard Kipling and Jack London. In conclusion, the purpose of the paper is to present a part of Croatian children’s literature trough animal stories and to show in what way they contribute to the European children’s literature in general. |
