Popis: The polyester fabric made of poly(ethylene-terephthalate) (PET) is not comfortable material due to low water absorbency. Therefore, it is necessary to modify PET surface to improve this property. The conventional modifications as e.g. aminolysis with EDA and hydrolysis with NaOH produce huge amounts of wastewater. The increasing demand for conservation of environment led to alternatives to current technologies in order to reduce water consumption, increase energy-efficiency and cut emissions of hazardous chemicals. Recently, textile wet processes assisted by ultrasound and enzymes are of high interest for the textile industry. The present paper deals with the ultrasound and lipase modification of polyester fabric surface for achieving better hydrophilicity. The characterization of surface and chemical composition of such treated polyester fabrics was performed by scanning electron microscopy and FTIR-ATR spectroscopy ; electrokinetic potential was measured on EKA by streaming current/potential method. The results were compared to conventional modifications.
