Popis: The advancement of building control systems has gained momentum in recent years and is leaning towards user-oriented control systems. Such systems, prioritize the users’ needs and preferences in order to reach the desired indoor comfort levels. Direct feedback or self-report on the percieved comfort level is needed from the occupants to establish a user-buiding control system interaction, which enables to automatically adjust the indoor conditions. However, the feedback process reported through an interface presents a behaviour that requires a level of commitment from the users and needs to be analyzed from a behavioural science lens. This presentation discusses the findings from an extensive review of current research studies that deal with user-oriented control systems in buildings and the consideration of user behaviour or the lack thereof. Additionally, a collection of the most used psychological theories in research to analyse user behaviour in buildings will be presented. The findings from the literature emphasise the most suitable approaches that can be used for control systems in buildings to obtain more insights into the occupants’ perspective on building controls.
