Popis: In the present study, for the first time, we report a suitable green procedure for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles using an aqueous extract of Fomes fomentarius (L.) as a reducing and capping agent. The results of the characterisation indicate the successful synthesis using Fomes fomentarius extract as a reducing agent, with UV- Vis absorption peak at 420 nm. The investigation showed good catalytic activity of silver nanoparticles on the degradation of methylene blue dye, with methylene blue degraded after a few hours. The extract was found to be the potent agent against human pathogens E. coli, P. aeruginosa, B. subtilis and S. aureus
