Five large concrete arch bridges were built on the Adriatic coast of Croatia in last 35 years. Degradation of their structural parts due to aggressive maritime environment, inadequate detailing and poor workmanship is discussed. Short survey on repairs and reconstructions of older arch bridges is briefly presented. Various protective coatings were tried for the Krk bridges, to stop the ingress of chlorides, but a successful solution is stil to be found.The newest Maslenica bridge, designed according to the experience gained by in-situ investigations of older arch bridges and ENV 206, is shortly described. |
