Popis: This work studies the properties of low density polyethylene (LDPE) nanocomposites prepared with various types of metal oxides. LDPE nanocomposites were prepared with titanium dioxide (TiO2), zinc oxide (ZnO) or silicon dioxide (SiO2). The second group of nanocomposites included addition of nanocellulose to LDPE/metal oxide composites in order to study its possible influence on mechanical reinforcement in nanocomposites. The isolation of nanocellulose was made by degradation of pine fluor. Nanocomposites preparation procedure included extrusion and pressing into foils. Prepared LDPE nanocomposites were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), UV- Vis spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The mechanical properties were also studied. The results show that the thermal stability of LDPE nanocomposites with metal oxides is changed in relation to the pure LDPE polymer. The samples with homogeneous nanoparticles' dispersion in the polymer matrix show improved mechanical properties. The results reveal that adding the active metal oxide component to LDPE matrix improves the UV protection property of nanocomposite materials.
