With implementation of 12 more lateral ultrasound guided transrectal prostate biopsy protocol we tried to improve prostate cancer detection. TRUS guided biopsy was performed on 301 patients with PSA and/or clinical suspection on prostate cancer. 198 of them underwent 12 more lateral core biopsy protocol and 103 underwent 12 core biopsy protocol with 6 lateral and 6 medial cores. Implementation of 12 more lateral TRUS guided biopsy protocol did not significantly improved prostate cancer detection. |
