Two regional and one important local railway lines pass through the railway station that is in the focus of this research. Residents of the surrounding area gravitate toward the Zabok railway station due to its favourable geographic position. The regional railway line connects the suburban transport of the city of Zagreb with the developed part of North Croatia. The tracks are currently not electrified and their infrastructure is not in satisfactory condition. With the electrification of the regional railway line the railway station would become a part of the suburban railway network of the city of Zagreb. From the operational aspect, this train station is essential, since it is going to serve as a hub for two important non-electrified railway lines and one partly electrified line. For the purposes of this research, a model of the existing and future state will be developed. Based on the simulation model, a few variants of the new passenger train operation, in new conditions, will be proposed and analysed. |
