The purpose of this study was to establish the influence of smoking intensity and duration on blood carboxyhemoglobin (HbCO), methemoglobin (MetHb), oxyhemoglobin (HbO2), total hemoglobin (tHb) and oxygen saturation (SaO2) levels as well as their mutual correlations. The study included total of 263 persons, 142 smokers and 121 non- smokers of both genders with mean age of 40.7 and 46.2 years, respectively. Venous blood samples were collected in the morning at the Clinical Hospital Osijek.
