In this paper, the production of colloidal silver by the electrochemical method of low DC voltage was studied. For the purpose of electrochemical production of colloidal silver, two silver electrodes with 99.99% purity and 3.0 mm diameter were used. A laboratory power supply DC and a colloidal silver generator were used as a source of direct current. As a natural stabilizer, carob gum synthesized from carob seeds was used. Characterization of colloidal silver (silver nanoparticles) was performed by UV-Vis spectroscopy and using a transmission electron microscope. By applying the electrochemical method, colloidal silver of satisfactory quality is produced. UV-Vis analysis confirmed the surface plasmon resonance of silver nanoparticles. Using the PWHM method, the size of silver nanoparticles was estimated and ranged from 15-50 nm. TEM analysis showed that the silver nanoparticles were spherical in shape and the particle size ranged from 25-50 nm. |
