Aripiprazol is a potent antipsychotic of the new generation, with antimanic and antidepressant effect depending on the dosage. lt differs significantly from other antipsychotics and for that reason opens new opportunities in treatment of schizophrenia and Bipolar disorder. lt is a partial agonist of D2-dopamine receptors, in lower dosage it enhances and in higher dosage it reduces activity of dopamine system, as well as partial 5-HT1A-receptor agonist and-5- HT2A-receptor antagonist. ln this article, we described a case of pathological gambling in a patient during therapy with aripiprazole. |
