A good transport system is crucial for a development of country and cities. Passenger transport is needed for the movement of people from one place to another, and the requirements vary considerably among different places and social groups. The majority of road traffic is carried out on a well-connected road network, independent of other traffic branches. The city of Dubrovnik is facing the problem of excessive traffic demand compared to the existing traffic capacities. Limited possibility of spatial development transport infrastructure with a growing number of tourist arrivals results in increased workload to the road traffic network. The area around the Old Town is congested with traffic, which generates harmful impact on the environment, living conditions of citizens and tourist offer of the City of Dubrovnik. In the paper is described the problem of seasonality. During the season, as the number of cruise passengers and the number of passengers at the airport increases, so does the number of vehicles in traffic. Traffic jams are more pronounced, and free parking spaces are a rarity. The purpose of the study is to collect data that will provide a better insights into the opinions of users towards both road traffic system and road transport services in the City of Dubrovnik. To achieve a set goal, except secondary data, primary data will be collected. A structured questionnaire will be used as an instrument in primary research. The questionnaire will be structured from the statements and questions used in previous research, which had focus on similar topics. Interpretation of the analysed data will provide insights into the possibility of traffic improvements, development and recommendations. |
