Popis: The declaring of wine in Croatia has changed by joining the EU and the quality marks of Croatian wines "Quality" and "Top quality", based on chemical and sensory parameters have become so called Traditional terms. Traditional terms are additional labels for PDO/PGI wines and it's use is not mandatory. Despite that, these terms are very important as a part of a long tradition and still a part of systematic control before wine market. Croatian wine producers use Traditional terms, but not always, what consequently requires additional consumer education. The aim of this research was to obtain informations how the choice of wine was influenced by the declared terms, with emphasis on Traditional terms, and consumer attitudes in terms of PDO/PGI and wine quality too. The research was conducted with online questionnaire. More than 300 participants, consumers and winemakers completed the questionnaire. The most of producers are satisfied with tradition and Traditional terms in wine labeling. Wine market choice factors were ranked according to the socioeconomic affiliation of participants in research. The share of respondents who understand the meaning of new terms PDO/PGI is significant, but they still trust in Traditional terms and the system on which it is based primarily. Presenting wine with Traditional terms „Quality“ and „Top quality“ through the media is an unquestionable source of wellbeing for all members in the chain, from production to customer. Declaring traditional terms is the communication in which consumers feel confident.
