Popis: History teaches that the art of music has always contributed significantly to human healing and there is a vast body of recent literature that supports it. In this paper the authors investigate if listening to music of various genres (pop, rock, jazz, traditional, folk, art), frequency and duration, brings benefits to students’ psychophysiological health. The results show that music plays an important role in students’ life: the habit of listening to music is frequent and impacts their personal, as well as social identity. The results also show that listening to music, with certain exceptions, positively effects students’ physical, mental and emotional condition. The results are interpreted within the musical, medicinal, historical and social context.
