Popis: Antimony trioxide ATO is widely used as a synergist in PVC flame retardant systems, because of its smoke suppression effect. However, ATO is classified in EU with the risk phrase R40 limited evidence of carcinogenic effect and with hazard statement H351 suspected of causing cancer by inhalation. Thus there is an identified need to look for less harmful alternatives to ATO in thermoplastics FR systems. In this work hydrotalcite and kaoline were studied as replacement to ATO in ATH flame retardant systems for PVC (nano)composites.
