Pupae of Cirina forda from soil, egg masses and larvae on ten shea trees at each of eight locations in the Upper West Region of Ghana were examined for growth of pathogens and emergence of parasitoids. A parasitic worm, Gordius aquaticus, was reared from 3rd to 6th instars and the parasitoids Hockeria crassa and Megaselia scalaris emerged from pupae after confinement in the laboratory. No pathogen was isolated from the eggs but some larvae and pupae showed symptoms of pathogen infections after confinement. Copyright © 2004 Whurr Publishers Ltd |
