| Abstrakt: | The preparation of 1-, 2- and 6-trifluoromethylazulenes by a modified Burton reaction employing sodium trifluoroacetate is described. By the same method 1- and 2-trifluoromethylnaphthalenes have been made. The 1H and 13C n.m.r. spectra have been assigned on the basis of 19F/1H and 19F/13C coupling, by 1H/13C correlation, and by prediction based on estimated substituent effects. |
