The grain orientation and the microstructure of a melt-grown YBaCuO cylindrical pellet was related to the trapped magnetic field profile in the remanant state. Subgrains do not appear as weak links having detrimental influence on the trapped field. Apparently only high angle grain boundaries are weak links separating the peaks of trapped field. The height of the peaks of the axial component of the trapped field measured on the basal surface of the pellet was found to be proportional to the c-axis declination from the normal of the basal surface and to the surface diameter of the grain. |
