ABSTRACTShiga toxin-producing Escherichia colibelonging to serotype O26:H11 was isolated from a 2-month-old guanaco with severe watery diarrhea. E. colicolonies carried the stx1and eaegenes, showed localized adherence to HEp-2 cells, and produced enterohemolysin. A serological response to lipopolysaccharide O26 was observed at the onset of diarrhea. |
