| Abstrakt: | Condensation of indoles with carbonyl compounds in the presence of montmorillonite clay produces bis(indol-3-yl)methanes in good yield; an extension of this procedure, involving nucleophilic ring opening of oxiranes, produces 1,2-bis(indol-3-yl)ethanes. |
