Abstrakt: Reviews three studies in which the MSQ was administered twice to each S. During the first administration, the S was given the correct answer whenever an item was missed. These data demonstrate that the vast majority of Ss who miss MSQ items on the first administration improve their scores on the second. Therefore, the MSQ does not exclusively measure short-term memory loss secondary to the organic brain syndromes of the senium. However, the impact of these factors on the use of the MSQ in research is less clear. Perhaps due to ceiling effects, the second administration scores do not consistently provide higher correlations with other measures of senile confusion.
