Abstrakt: •Milk from Ethiopia was highly contaminated with indicator and selected pathogenic bacteria.•Training of dairy farmers was associated with decreased levels of total coliforms.•Training was also associated with a lower prevalence of E. coliand STEC.•Sustainable measures are needed to ensure the safety of Ethiopian dairy products.
