Abstrakt: •MRSA incidence and antimicrobial resistance increased in Southwest Finland from 2007 to 2016.•Multi-resistant MRSA strains more than doubled in proportion, reaching 39.2% in 2016.•Clindamycin, erythromycin and tetracycline resistance showed marked increases.•Immigration, livestock contact and hospital care abroad were key risk factors for resistance.•spatyping revealed influx of novel strain types and increased diversity.
