Orofacial Cleft (OFC) is second predominant congenital malformation with a prevalence of 0.54-0.64 per 1000 live births in Africa. OFC imposed immense pyschosocial exertion on the families of those affected. Understanding these serious emotional turmoil and social demands on these carers would facilitate both short and long-term management of these patients. Therefore, this qualitative study aimed to explore the emotional impact and social experiences of parents or family caregivers of children with orofacial cleft (OFC) in a remote region in northwest Nigeria. |
